Kicking Off the ESOMOOR Project: 1st General Assembly Meeting
We held the 1st General Assembly meeting of the ESOMOOR project, both at DTU Lyngby Campus and online on 7 February 2025.
This milestone brought together technical experts from all 10 project partners:
- DTU - Technical University of Denmark
- Bekaert
- Chalmers University of Technology
- DHI
- ENSTA
- Instituto Superior Técnico
- NKT
- Norrsidans Innovation AB
- Universidad Politécnica de Madrid
- Università Roma Tre.
During the meeting, we presented the plans for the 8 work packages (WPs) and had valuable discussions about the interactions between them—critical for ensuring a successful outcome for the project:
- WP1: Reporting and knowledge community – led by DTU
- WP2: Life-time engineering assessment – led by Chalmers University of Technology
- WP3: Base design – led by Instituto Superior Técnico
- WP4: Material tests for ropes – led by ENSTA
- WP5: Tool development – led by Università Roma Tre
- WP6: Simulation, investigation, and optimization – led by Chalmers University of Technology
- WP7: Tank testing – led by Universidad Politécnica de Madrid
- WP8: O&M and environmental considerations – led by DTU
Co-financed by the EU through CETPartnership, ESOMOOR aims to deliver experimental and simulation-based prototype demonstrations of floating offshore wind farms in an integrated system environment. Our goal is to:
- Elevate technology readiness levels (TRL)
- Boost confidence among end users in adopting shared mooring systems and fiber ropes for future large-scale wind farm deployments.
